APPLICATION CODE: UNDP 2025 – Alumni Internship Application

UNDP is recruiting one (1) intern to join its team for a summer internship. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to actively contribute to UNDP’s ongoing initiatives and gain hands-on experience in the fields of communications, sustainable development, environmental protection, and cultural heritage preservation. The internship will also offer valuable insight into UNDP’s confidence-building efforts in Cyprus and its support to EU-funded projects including the Support to Cultural Heritage of Great Importance, the Committee on Missing Persons, the Local Infrastructure Facility, and the Support Facility to the Technical Committees.

 

 

Key Responsibilities
Under the overall guidance of the Communications Analyst, the intern will be expected to contribute to the Communications team’s day-to-day work through the following tasks:

• Monitor traditional and online media from both communities for stories related to UNDP’s focus areas, and help compile weekly media coverage reports.
• Assist in the maintenance and regular updating of the UNDP photo library and Flickr page.
• Support content development for the 'UNDP in Cyprus' website, including press releases, blog posts, and project/event updates.
• Provide logistical and communication support for visibility, outreach, and knowledge-sharing events.
• Assist in the preparation of questionnaires and support data collection for project evaluation and reporting.
• Contribute ideas and assist in the design of project-related communication materials.
• Carry out any other communications-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

 

Candidate Profile

• Being an EUSP alumni from one of the past three academic years (2022/23, 2023/24, or 2024/25) — applications from non-alumni will not be considered
Currently studying towards or recently graduated from a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree – such as Communications, Public Relations, International Relations, Sociology, Marketing, Business Administration, or a similar field.
• Shows openness and respect towards people from diverse cultural, religious, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds, and demonstrates sensitivity to gender and age differences.
• Has strong research skills and is comfortable working with online sources and data.
• Brings excellent writing skills and a keen eye for detail.
• Displays creativity, initiative, and motivation to learn.
• Willingness to support events that may occasionally take place during weekends.
• Has strong interpersonal skills and can collaborate effectively in multicultural environments.
• Shares and upholds the values of the United Nations Charter and UNDP’s mission.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with design tools or email marketing platforms (such as Mailchimp) is a plus.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining a positive and adaptable attitude.
• Any prior experience in content writing, event coordination, or project support will be considered an asset.
• Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
